‘…The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” – Daniel 6:20 (NKJV)
He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, and the chastisement of our peace was upon Him (Isaiah 53:5). What suffering! However, this was what Jesus came to earth to do since His mission was to reconcile man to God.
God’s plan was that His prime creation, man, was to have a perfect relationship with Him. He desired fellowship with us because we were created out of His great love. That plan was, however, dashed when Adam and Eve disobeyed His command (Genesis 3). But God is not willing that anyone should perish but that all should have eternal life through Christ (2 Peter 3:9). Thus, the sending of His Son, Jesus Christ.
God loves us so much that He came Himself in the form of His only son and lived among man. His purpose for coming was to teach the principles of the Kingdom of God and to redeem fallen man to God. Redemption was executed and victoriously accomplished when He died on the cross, was buried, and was resurrected from the dead three days later. He took lashes, nail piercings, body punctures, and ridicule just for us.
Now He sits at the right hand of His Father, making intercession for mankind. So today, we can rejoice because of that redemptive work on Calvary. The songwriter reminds us, “There’s room at the cross” for anyone who will dare to accept the finished work of Calvary. That’s why we serve Him.
Prayer
God, I thank You for sending Jesus to die for me. I now accept Him as my Lord and Saviour and ask forgiveness for my sins. Thank you for making me Your child, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
